WASHINGTON -- Convicts have no constitutional right to DNA testing that could prove their innocence, the Supreme Court found, refusing to extend a 1963 precedent that requires prosecutors to share exculpatory evidence defendants can use at trial.
In a 5-4 vote along the court's ideological divide, the conservative majority acknowledged that "modern DNA testing can provide powerful new evidence unlike anything known before."
